يرتدينَ النقاب ،
و من ألوان أحذيتهن البلاستيكية ،
يعرفُ كل رجل ٍ حبيبته .

يتطيبّنَ بالبخور
و هنَّ ذاهبات
إلى دروس محو الأميّة ،
امرأة ٌغريبة ترافقهن
حتى نهاية الطريق ،
بغنائها تغشّ الجنود الأميركان
يطلقون الرصاصَ في الهواء
و يلعقونَ دموعَ الهنود الحمر
عن الزناد .

أهدته طنبوراً ،
و ما زالَ يبكي
كلمّا تحدّثَ أحدهم عنها بسوء
في دار الشورى ،
و سرقَ عصفوراً
من على حبل ِغسيلها .

على المقصلة
لم يتركوا أثراً ،
امرأة ٌغيري في كشمير
كانت تُنجبك َ
و هم يرجمونني بالحجارة .

الملاّ بهاء الدين أحبَّني ،
و في كنيسة مار أفرام ،
وجدوه يُعمّد تلاميذَ محمد .

كانت جثتكَ ،
تلكَ التي سحلتها الدبابة ،
تحدثّوا عنها في خبر ٍعاجل ،
لم تكن صدفة ،
أن تقع َصورتكَ ،
من على الجدار الطيني ،
و ينكسر قلبي .

أتيمّم بالتراب
و أقبّلكَ
كما تفعل الشاعرات البشتونيات
و هنّ يترجمنَ القرآن
بدموعهن إلى اللغة العربية .

And licking Red Indian tears

Each time someone speaks ill of her
At Dar al-Shura(3),
And steels a sparrow
From her clothesline.

On the guillotine
They didn’t leave a trace,
Another woman in Kashmir
Was giving birth to you
As they stone me.

Mullah(4) Bahaa Eldeen loved me,
And in the church of Saint Ephraim,
They found him baptizing Mohamed followers.

Bukhoor is the name given to scented bricks. These scented chips/bricks re burned in incense burners to perfume the home and clothing with a rich thick smoke.
